Filming Blog: Movie Star

Hey blog I’m back for the 4th day! Today I won’t be going to the park, instead the beginning of these scenes are a continuation of the last scene from yesterday, clip 18. Today ill be finishing the opening scene meaning scenes 19-29. Scene 19 was another grassy field shot so i just used my backyard and re-created the scene with my siblings since they are also out of school today. For that scene I used the tripod because it was another 3 shot. For scene 20 I used the tripod again but angled it a different way so it could capture the kids running away, and the road in the background. This is where the opening scene starts to pick up, so I ran in the house and grabbed the star of the show aka my father. I needed an older male for this role, since he does play a father, none of my friends look old enough or intimidating. We got in the car, drove down the road slightly and took some establishing shots for the 21st scene. For scene 22, my dad stayed in the car, and with my camera I used a medium close-up shot of him rolling down the window, I took small steps so it could zoom effect.

Scenes 23 and 24 were both over the shoulder shots however scene 24, I panned the camera slowly around to David’s (actors name) side. This was meant to create suspense and show how stoic his facial expression is. Scene 25 is the a side view but more zoomed out, so you can see the whole console and radio, so the mummer from radio could be turned down. Scene 26 I had to get the camera really close to his face because it was supposed to be an eye level zoom out, while he watches Charlie from the windshield. I had to shoot this scene 2 times because the first time I dropped the phone between the seats, and it took me forever to get it back. For the next scene, I had to leave the car for another side angle, but it shows half of the door and him inside the car talking. Again the camera shot goes back inside the car but it a tracking shot and follows David's hand of him turning up the music rolling the window up and turning back on the car.

For the last scene I put my phone on the tripod stand and zoomed out until I hit 0.5 and stretched my arms out far enough to get the car in the frame. I’ll admit this was the hardest scene to film because it took me like 4 times. My arms were hurting so bad, and they began to shake which caused the tripod to shake too. But on the 5th try I finally got it which completed the last scene until the screen goes black.
