Production Blog: Website!

Today I am back again but this time I won’t be telling you about my filming process. Instead, I will tell you the process of creating my movie website.

Building my website on Wix was honestly so hectic. At first, I thought it would be super easy since everyone says Wix is so user-friendly, but let me tell you, I definitely faced some challenges. The hardest part at the start was picking a template. There are so many options, and I kept switching between them because I wasn’t sure which one really fit my style. After finally choosing one, I thought I was good to go, but nope, I had to tweak it so much to make it look the way I wanted. Then it was kind of confusing on how to save the website your profile to work on it later. I typed a few thing and went to my profile but I couldn't find the website I started on, fortunately it was just a tester.

The drag-and-drop editor was nice at first, but it got frustrating when I wanted to adjust things exactly how I pictured it. Like, trying to resize text boxes or move images around wasn’t always as easy as it seemed, especially setting the background picture.

As I kept designing, I realized that Wix is a little limiting if you want to get really specific with your site. I was trying to add some cool animations and designs to the header, but I couldn’t find an option to do that without adding custom code.

I uploaded a ton of photos and videos, and suddenly, the page load time was slow. I wanted to upload pictures of the cast and crew but it got really laggy, so I scraped my idea at first, but I may go back and try again. But even though there were a lot of twist and turns along the way of creating my website, I have to say, Wix did have some good resources and ideas, and was very helpful in there online forum. I would definitely spend more time researching templates and apps before diving in and maybe watch a youtube video, wix is a great tool, but it’s not as simple as people make it seem.
